Wine Room
REMODELING MAGAZINE DESIGN AWARDS 2013 Merit Award: Design/Build Under $100,000
Revamped a Georgetown homeowner’s basement storage room into a space for storing wine and root vegetables, and for preparing pastry for parties.
Process included gutting the room, then spraying closed-cell polyurethane foam in the walls and ceiling to provide a vapor barrier and the insulation needed to maintain a conditioned environment.
A self-contained chiller unit vents to the adjacent mechanical room and maintains the room’s temperature.
Drawer fronts were created from wine crates, knobs from champagne corks, and handles, from sisal rope.
